This month’s AIM spotlight shines on Steve Bors, immunization program manager in New Jersey. A Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic for more than 20 years, Steve also had experience in Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Preparedness and the Strategic National Stockpile before joining the immunization program as VFC Coordinator in 2011.

He was promoted to Manager of the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program in 2013 where he enjoys working with committed staff and the diversity of issues and people. Steve particularly enjoys the opportunity to interact with other public and private partners around shared immunization issues and initiatives. He works continuously to master a smarter, better way to solve problems with dwindling resources. “We are becoming quite good at working together to solve problems. It’s a team sport with everyone willing to pitch in.”

A first generation American, Steve is the son of parents who came to the United States during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. Growing up, he enjoyed visiting family in Europe and pitching in at his family’s ice cream shop. Steve is a lifelong resident of New Jersey where he and his wife Jeaneen live an active life with 2 children, Audrey and Alex, ages 13 and 15. When not traveling to soccer and football games, Steve enjoys the occasional night of poker with friends and traveling into New York for a show or dinner.
Steve has served on the AIM Leadership Institute Board since its inception in 2014. About AIM, Steve says, “As a resource to new program managers and a facilitator of networking, AIM is irreplaceable!”
